Nathaniel Currier was an American lithographer, best known for co-founding Currier & Ives, a successful printmaking firm that operated in New York City from 1834 to 1907. Born in Massachusetts, Currier established his lithography business in New York City, initially producing prints of various subjects such as portraits, landscapes, and historical events. However, Currier found great success with the publication of inexpensive, mass-produced prints, including political cartoons, sentimental scenes, and images of American life. His partnership with James Ives, which began in 1857, further solidified the company's success.
