Maurice Utrillo was a French painter known for his distinctive depictions of Parisian street scenes and cityscapes. Born Maurice Valadon, he was the son of the artist Suzanne Valadon. Utrillo struggled with mental health issues throughout his life, but he found solace and purpose in painting. His works often featured the winding streets, historic buildings, and iconic landmarks of Montmartre, capturing the unique charm and character of the neighbourhood. Utrillo's style evolved over time, from early Impressionist-influenced works to later, more structured compositions characterised by simplified forms and a muted palette.
