Shoda Koho
1871—1946Shoda Koho was a Japanese woodblock print artist renowned for his contributions to the shin-hanga ("new prints") movement. His work primarily focused on portraits of beautiful women, known as "bijin-ga," which were characterised by their graceful depictions and attention to fashion and detail. Koho's prints reflected a blend of traditional ukiyo-e aesthetics with contemporary elements, capturing the elegance and modernity of Japanese women during the early 20th century. His skilful portrayal of feminine beauty and his collaborative work with publishers like Watanabe Shozaburo have solidified his place as an esteemed shin-hanga artist.
