About the artist

Keika Hasegawa
19th Century
Keika Hasegawa was a Japanese artist active during the late 19th century, renowned for her exquisite woodblock prints, particularly those depicting chrysanthemums. Her most notable work, One Hundred Chrysanthemums by Keika (Keika Hyakugiku), published in 1893, showcases a series of detailed and vibrant illustrations of various chrysanthemum varieties. These prints are celebrated for their delicate lines and harmonious colour palettes, reflecting the traditional Japanese appreciation for nature's beauty.
