About the artist

Adolphe Millot
1857—1921
Adolphe Millot was a French physician and illustrator who is best known for his work as the lead illustrator of the Nouveau Larousse Illustré, a French encyclopaedia published between 1897 and 1904. Millot's detailed and accurate illustrations of anatomy, biology, and medicine contributed greatly to the success of the encyclopaedia and were widely praised for their clarity and beauty. He also worked as a medical illustrator for several medical journals and textbooks.
