About the artist
Camille Pissarro (1830–1903) was a Danish-French Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painter known for his contributions to the development of modern art. Born on the island of St. Thomas (now part of the US Virgin Islands), Pissarro settled in France and became a key figure in the Impressionist movement, alongside artists like Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. He is celebrated for his landscape paintings, depicting rural scenes and urban life with a unique sensitivity to light and atmosphere. Pissarro's art evolved over time, and he later embraced Neo-Impressionism, experimenting with pointillism and divisionist techniques.
