About the artist
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist and printmaker who is considered one of the most important figures in Japanese art history. He is best known for his woodblock print series, including "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," which features the iconic "Great Wave off Kanagawa." Hokusai's work is characterized by its technical mastery, innovative use of perspective, and bold, graphic style. He continued to work and produce art throughout his long life, and his influence can be seen in both traditional and modern Japanese art.
