About the artist
Gustave Caillebotte was a notable French painter and patron associated with the Impressionists. Although less renowned than some of his contemporaries, Caillebotte's unique style captured the nuances of urban life in Paris during the late 19th century. His works, such as "Paris Street; Rainy Day," are characterised by their realistic depictions, bold perspectives, and technical precision. Beyond his artistic contributions, Caillebotte played a crucial role in supporting and promoting the Impressionist movement, both financially and by amassing a significant collection of its masterpieces.
