About the artist
Kamisaka Sekka (1866–1942) was a Japanese artist and designer who played a pivotal role in the development of modern Japanese design. He was a master of the Rinpa school of painting and known for his innovative fusion of traditional Japanese art with Western design principles. Sekka's work encompassed a wide range of mediums, including painting, printmaking, lacquerware, and textile design. He was instrumental in reviving interest in traditional Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship during the Meiji era.
