About the artist
Abraham Mignon (1640–1679) was a Dutch Golden Age painter known for his sumptuous still life paintings. Born in Frankfurt, Mignon moved to the Netherlands and became associated with the circle of artists in Utrecht. He specialised in floral still lifes, often arranging bouquets of flowers in elaborate compositions. Mignon's paintings are characterised by their meticulous attention to detail, vibrant colours, and exquisite rendering of textures. He was particularly skilled at capturing the delicate beauty of flowers, insects, and other elements of nature. Mignon's works were highly sought after during his lifetime and continue to be admired for their beauty and technical mastery.
