Ohara Koson was a prominent Japanese woodblock print artist known for his contributions to the shin-hanga ("new prints") movement. Under the influence of ukiyo-e master Hiroshige, Koson excelled in creating exquisite prints of birds and flowers, combining traditional Japanese themes with a contemporary flair. His detailed and realistic renderings, marked by their vibrant colors and intricate designs, were highly sought after in both Japan and the West. Koson's work played a significant role in preserving and reinvigorating the woodblock print tradition in the early 20th century.
