About the artist

Utagawa Hirokage (active circa 1848–1864) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist associated with the Utagawa school, one of the most prominent woodblock print schools during the Edo period. While there isn't extensive information available about Hirokage, he is known for his contributions to the ukiyo-e genre, particularly for his bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) prints. Hirokage's works typically featured elegant women in various scenes of daily life, often depicted with meticulous attention to detail and vibrant colours.
