About the artist

Utagawa Kunimaro (active circa late 18th to early 19th century) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist belonging to the Utagawa school, one of the most prominent woodblock print schools during the Edo period. While there isn't extensive information available about Kunimaro, he is known for his contributions to the ukiyo-e genre, particularly for his bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) prints. Kunimaro's works typically featured graceful women in various scenes of daily life, often depicted with intricate details and vibrant colours.
