About the artist
Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839–1892) was a prolific Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print artist of the late Edo and early Meiji periods. Renowned for his innovative and dramatic compositions, he excelled in depicting warriors, kabuki actors, and supernatural themes. Yoshitoshi's vivid and emotionally charged prints, such as his "One Hundred Aspects of the Moon" series, showcased his technical mastery and storytelling prowess.
