Joan Eardley

Joan Eardley (1921–1963) was a Scottish artist known for her expressive and poignant depictions of urban and rural life, particularly in the landscapes and people of Scotland. Born in Sussex, England, Eardley moved to Scotland as a child and later studied at the Glasgow School of Art. She became associated with the post-war Scottish Renaissance movement and is celebrated for her powerful and emotionally charged paintings, often depicting the rugged landscapes of the Scottish coast and the working-class communities of Glasgow.
