Theodore Robinson
1852—1896Theodore Robinson was an American Impressionist painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and intimate scenes of everyday life. Born in Vermont, Robinson studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City before traveling to France, where he became influenced by the French Impressionists. He was one of the first American artists to adopt the Impressionist style, using loose brushwork, vibrant colours, and a keen observation of light and atmosphere to capture the beauty of nature and the nuances of human experience. Robinson's works often depicted rural landscapes, gardens, and figures in quiet, contemplative moments.
