William Merritt Chase
1849—1916William Merritt Chase was a prominent American Impressionist painter known for his contributions to the American art scene during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was an influential teacher, having founded the Chase School of Art (later known as the New York School of Art) and the Shinnecock Hills Summer School of Art.
