About the artist
Ogata Korin (1658–1716) was a distinguished Japanese artist known for his significant contributions to the Rinpa school of painting during the Edo period. Drawing inspiration from classical courtly art, Korin developed a distinctive style characterized by bold designs, striking color contrasts, and a decorative approach. His iconic works, such as the "Irises" and "Red and White Plum Blossoms" folding screens, display his innovative composition techniques.
