Natori Shunsen
1886—1960Natori Shunsen was a Japanese woodblock print artist celebrated for his shin-hanga (new prints) and yakusha-e portraits of kabuki actors. Renowned for capturing the essence and emotion of his subjects, Shunsen's work is known for its vivid colour, meticulous detail, and the expressive realism he brought to kabuki characters. Influenced by the ukiyo-e tradition, he revitalised actor prints with a modern flair, blending classical techniques with innovative composition.
