Suzuki Kiitsu
1796—1858Suzuki Kiitsu was a distinguished Japanese painter and a key figure in the Edo period Rinpa school of painting. Known for his vibrant and dynamic compositions, Kiitsu's work often featured nature-inspired themes such as flowers, birds, and landscapes. He was a student of Sakai Hōitsu, from whom he inherited the rich decorative style and refined techniques characteristic of the Rinpa tradition. Kiitsu's paintings are celebrated for their bold use of colour, intricate details, and elegant, flowing lines. His masterpieces, such as "Morning Glories" and "Wind God and Thunder God," exemplify his ability to blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with a personal sense of innovation.
